E-FURNACES & E-BOOSTING

A GREEN ALTERNATIVE

Electric furnaces and E-boosting from Fives are a green alternative to traditional technologies. They offer better thermal efficiency and lower emissions and, with a reliable supply of renewable energy — lower operating costs.

Prium® E-Melt

  • Prium® E-Melt cold-top vertical melter offers a cost-effective option for the production of a wide range of glass types. It enables the production of exceptional quality glass with low fault concentration and high homogeneity. It's also the best available technology to reduce emissions at the plant level.
  • Prium® E-Melt Warm-Top (or Mixed-Melt) furnace is an alternative when the cold-top operation isn’t possible due to high-gassing of melting reactions or when greater output flexibility is required. Warm-top formats extend the applications of an electric furnace to situations in which electric melting would not previously have been feasible.
  • Ancillary equipment: electrodes, electrode cooling equipment, stirrers, batch chargers and more. Each part is designed with efficiency in mind, for maximum life and lowest possible total cost of ownership.

PRIUM® E-Boost

Reliable technology for all glass types

E-boosting is valuable when melting challenging glasses, including ECR glass fibre and coloured glass. It is applicable to increase production capacity and quality of all glass types.

The strategic placement of electrodes, tailored to the design of the furnace, allows you to achieve:

  • The best power distribution for your application
  • Increased output without increasing the footprint
  • Improved flexibility of furnace operations and overall energy efficiency
  • Reduced emissions and less gas usage/waste

Super boosters

Fuel-fired furnaces are conceived at the outset with high-capacity electrical heating systems as an integral part of the design. These boosters, often with a large array of electrodes and multiple control zones, increase melt-rate and allow furnace conditions to be steered for maximum fuel efficiency. The power profile and furnace’s melting characteristics can be tailored to the application and even overcome the limitations of the furnace geometry.
