Fives has been designing, supplying and commissioning leading edge electric boosting systems for the glass industry for over half a century.

As an addition to the Prium® 400 and 4000 series conditioning solutions, Prima electric boosting for conditioning will reduce cord and give better glass homogeneity at the spout. The use of electric boosting in the conditioning zone of the forehearth ensures better mixing and homogeneity of the glass, with respect to both temperature and composition. The edge heating and mixing resulting from the addition of electrical energy, through immersed electrodes will result in higher production efficiency on each line a Prima Electric Conditioning Boost is installed.

Immersed electrode systems offer faster control in coloured glasses, and subject to the correct location of the electrodes (and monitoring thermocouples) will also impart additional homogeneity capability to gas heated forehearths.

Each Prium® Booster is individually designed to deliver, to the glass producer, the optimum benefits achievable. Our ‘in-house’ dedicated team of engineers and glass technologists, together with our specialist installation and commissioning engineers are ready to assist with any requirements for furnace design, construction and operation.
