Rugged construction gives ease of use and long life in the harsh environment around a furnace. Fives Prium® Boosters use Molybdenum or Tin oxide electrode material to suit the glass composition to be melted. Fives Prium® Boosters range from small throat boosters rated at 10kW to Large advanced multi-zone systems rated at more than 6 MW. If the requirement is for increased furnace capacity, reduced emissions or improved glass quality Fives Prium® boost systems will be tailored to meet customer requirements.

Prium® boosters can be Melting boosts, barrier boosts, Advanced boosts, throat boosts or a combination of these boosters. The use of electrical energy directly in the liquid glass is a very efficient method of heating glass with almost no emissions, making it an environmentally friendly addition to a factories production. Prium® boosters will complement natural circulating currents within the furnace leading to the improved efficiency of fossil fuel combustion systems.

The use of the latest control technology gives superior control accuracy and the ability to communicate with furnace control systems. Historical data logging gives the ability to monitor trends and give stable furnace parameters. Each Prium® Booster is individually designed to deliver, to the glass producer, the optimum benefits achievable. 

Our ‘in-house’ dedicated team of engineers and glass technologists, together with our specialist installation and commissioning engineers are ready to assist with any requirements for furnace design, construction and operation.

Prium® VariCool: Innovative electrode holder range

Fives has designed the Prium® VariCool electrode holder with efficiency at its core, whilst maintaining the rugged durability of existing holder ranges.

The high flexibility of the Prium® VariCool meets the varying needs of the glass contact refractories during their lifetime. Cooling could be varied to preserve refractories during the aging process.

Moreover, the new electrode holder has the following advantages:
